Monrovia, December 25, 2019: LLA Delegation Returns from Planning Meeting in Gavle, Sweden
A delegation from the Liberia Land Authority (LLA), comprising the Executive Director and key technical staff including the Directors for Projects; Administration and Customer Services; Land Use and Management, returned to Liberia recently from Gavle, Sweden, following participation in a planning and learning visit from November 15th-25th, 2019.
The visit which was sponsored by the Inclusive Land Administration and Management Project (ILAMP), financed by the Government of Sweden through the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and implemented by the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral Survey and Land Registration Authority in collaboration with the LLA, was intended for the outcome leaders and key members of the four components of the ILAMP including staff that are providing technical backstopping support. The components are: 1) Skilled LLA staff are effectively and efficiently carrying out their duties; 2) Women participating in land administration and management; 3) Local government creating and enforcing Land Use Plans; and 4) Customary land demarcated and managed
During the visit, a a number of thematic areas were covered, such as project planning with emphasis on Result Based Management (RBM); detailed planning and updating of the results framework and work plan of the ILAMP; knowledge and experience sharing on geodata the Swedish Land Authority and physical planning in Tanzania; and human resources issues and processes/procedures. Others included a presentation on spatial planning in Sweden as well as a visit to the Municipality of Gavle to learn about planning issues including the issuance of permits for different land uses.
The expected outcome of the meeting is improved knowledge of LLA participants in the areas mentioned above, which will lead to greater efficiency in the performance of their respective duties and responsibilities, hence contributing to achieving the mandate of the LLA and the robust implementation of the ILAMP.
