February 17th, 2022, Ganta City: Liberia Land Authority (LLA) Conducts Gender Mainstreaming Training in Ganta City, Nimba County

The Liberia Land Authority (LLA) with funding from the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) through its Inclusive Land Administration and Management Project (ILAMP), is conducting a three-day training workshop on gender mainstreaming in Ganta City, Nimba County

The three days workshop which is being implemented by the LLA Gender Unit has brought together 46 selected LLA staff from Nimba, Lofa, Bong, Rivercess, Margibi, Grand Bassa, Gbarpolu, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Montserrado, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Maryland, Grand Kru and Sinoe counties

The objective of the workshop is to build the capacity of selected Gender Champions (LLA Staff) on the importance of women land rights, pertinent legal framework documents that promote and protect women and girls right to land or property ownership, sexual and domestic violence.

However, at the end of the training, participants are expected to have enhanced knowledge in mainstreaming gender-related issues as Gender Champions, understand their roles and responsibilities, promote other legal frameworks that protect and promote women and girls rights to land or property ownership, and as well serve as promoters of gender equality in their respective departments and Units.

The three days training which commenced on February 15th, 2022, is expected to end on February 17th, 2022.

Further, Lantmäteient (The Swedish Mapping, Cadastre and Land Registration Authority) in collaboration with the government of Liberia through the Liberia Land Authority is implementing a five-year (5) Capacity Building for Inclusive Land Administration and Management Project (ILAMP).
