The exercise targets 4,800 properties across Sanniquellie and Ganta cities, with 2,400 properties expected to be assessed in each city. The rollout follows a three-day refresher training for selected data collectors.
According to LLA Valuation Division Coordinator Derrick Dweh, approximately 900 properties have been valued thus far. He further said that the LLA has established a dashboard at the LLA headquarters to allow the public to monitor progress and view the types of data being collected.
Mr. Dweh explained that the exercise will strengthen land administration and provide a reliable foundation for property taxation and domestic revenue mobilization.
“The Government ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), identified domestic revenue mobilization as an important source of funding for national development. Hence, LLA is working to ensure that this exercise becomes the lead in that direction,” he added.
He further noted that fair property assessment and transparent revenue collection could help support essential public services, including roads, healthcare, sanitation and education.
“The LLA is committed to ensuring that our part under the PSIP is performed well. We want Liberians to see better recognition of their properties, fair property taxation and assessment, and better public services for all,” Dweh added.
Mr. Dweh further stated that the LLA is implementing the exercise in collaboration with the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) to modernize property valuation and strengthen the country’s revenue base.
