Hon. Kpakio made the pledge on Monday, January 19, 2026, during the official launch of the National Decentralization Support Unit (NDSU) at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He stated that the LLA is already playing an active role in advancing decentralization through the establishment of her county offices in all fifteen counties of Liberia, aimed at improving access to land administration services nationwide.
According to Hon. Kpakio, decentralization is critical to strengthening governance and enhancing efficient service delivery at the local level.
Meanwhile, delivering a special statement at the program, Hon. Francis Sakila Nyumalin described national decentralization as a vital pillar for achieving effective local governance. He noted that the administration of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has demonstrated strong political will toward the decentralization by finalizing the renaming of the ministry as the Ministry of Local Government, a move he said underscores the government’s commitment to empowering local authorities.
Hon. Nyumalin further explained that, with support from development partners, the National Decentralization Support Unit has been established to actively support service centers and improve access to government services at the county level.
As part of the launch activities, assorted materials and stationery were also supplied to county service centers to enhance their operational capacity.
The program was attended by representatives of several government ministries and agencies, who described the launch as a strong demonstration of collective support for the decentralization process.
