PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Maryland County, Liberia — April 8, 2026 In furtherance of its mandate, functions, and powers to strengthen land tenure security and promote effective and efficient land governance and administration in Maryland County and across Liberia, the Liberia Land Authority (LLA), Maryland County Land Office, wishes to inform the public that it has commenced a comprehensive investigation into all land ownership records, including deeds, within the Gbolobo Clan, Maryland County.

This initiative is intended to safeguard the interests and investments of prospective land buyers. This technical exercise, which supports the ongoing land reform agenda of the LLA, is predicated upon a series of complaints filed before the LLA County Land Office.

These complaints allege widespread irregularities, including illegal land sales, encroachments, transfers without valid title deeds, and transactions conducted by unauthorized or purported grantors within Gbolobo Township.

Such practices contravene established land laws, policies, and guidelines, including the Act Against the Criminal Conveyance of Land of 2014, the Land Rights Act of 2018, the Liberia Land Authority Act of 2016, and other applicable legal frameworks governing land administration in Liberia.

In view of the foregoing, the LLA County Land Office, hereby advised the public, particularly individuals and entities intending to acquire land within Gbolobo Township, to temporarily suspend all land purchase activities in the area until the completion of this investigative process.

This intervention is aimed not only at ensuring secure land tenure for citizens but also at preventing the escalation of land-related disputes and conflicts in Maryland County, thereby preserving peace, security, and social harmony.

The public is further informed that the Liberia Land Authority remains fully committed to the discharge of its statutory mandate, functions, and powers, ensuring that the land market operates within the bounds of the law and that all stakeholders strictly adhere to established policies and regulations in support of sound land governance.

Therefore, upon completion of this technical vetting exercise within the Gbolobo Clan, the public will be duly informed of the findings and outcomes. The Authority assures all citizens that their time, resources, and investments remain of utmost importance.

This initiative is being carried out under the leadership of Samuel F. Kpakio, Sr., Chairman of the Liberia Land Authority.
